Clanny House
Based on Hylton Road, this hall which opened in 1995 is
close to local shops and services and is on a regular bus route
into the City Centre. The Metro Station (Millfield) is a
five-minute walk away. Clanny House offers single study bedrooms
in flats varying from two to seven bed units. Rooms vary in size
on this site and this is reflected in the price. £100 Booking
Fee required to secure booking, this is deducted from the 3rd
rent payment period.
Panns Bank
Consisting of Douglas Court and Hart Court, Panns Bank
is based on the riverside overlooking the Sir Tom Cowie Campus
and is close to the Student Union bar and shop in the Bonded
Warehouse. All flats are for six students and rooms are of a
similar design and size, some of the rooms in the roof space are
designed with sloping ceilings. £200 Booking Fee required to
secure booking, this is deducted from the 3rd rent payment
period.
The Precinct
The Precinct is located on Chester Road within easy
walking distance of the Metro Station (University Park), the
Murray Library, the City Centre Campus and the Student Union Bar
and shop in Wearmouth Hall. The Precinct has high speed wireless
internet access to the campus network and to the Internet via
JANET and its a free facility.
The majority of
rooms are in blocks of 10 with shared living and cooking areas,
although there are some 6 bed flats for those students who
request a quieter environment. The cost of heating and
electricity is included in the rent for The Precinct which is
reflected in the price.
Post Graduate accommodation (50week
contract) available.
The Forge
Is well designed and consists of two main areas Jobling
and Marr House. The Forge is within easy walking distance of the
local shopping area and the Metro Station (Pallion). The Forge
offers flats for five to seven people. Rooms are spacious and
well designed and are similar in size. From September 2004

network and to the Internet via JANET and its a free facility.

Families
and Couples
There are a small
number of family flats and houses attached to the Halls of
Residence, but they are usually booked at a very early stage.
You are advised to contact Residential Services before making
any travel arrangements. If you are thinking of
bringing your partner or family to Sunderland, you should
contact Residential Services immediately and we will endeavor to
meet your requirements. However, it is important to understand
that it is simply not possible to guarantee accommodation to a
student’s family.
Families are able
to remain in the accommodation until the student’s course of
study is completed. There are one-bed flats suitable for
couples, two bed flats and two bed houses suitable for families
with one or two children. One-bedroom flats comprise of a large
bedroom with twin beds and study facilities, lounge kitchen and
bathroom. Two bedroom houses/flats have a double bed in one
bedroom and bunks, usually, in the other. Garden space is
limited.

UNIVERSITY MANAGED HOUSES
Residential Services manage approximately 195 bed
spaces in houses throughout the city. These houses range in size
from two to six bed units although the average house is designed
for 4 or 5 students.
Whilst university managed houses offer greater independence
students living in them benefit from the ongoing support of
staff within Residential Services who liaise with landlords to
ensure that repairs are undertaken within agreed time scales.
Houses are popular with continuing students who prefer to live
in smaller units sharing with a group of friends.The rooms vary
in sizes and this is reflected in the price. In some of the
properties the cost of heating and electricity is included in
the rent, so it’s best to check when you are considering a
room.
ALL SAINTS
One of our larger managed properties All Saints is
situated close to St. Peters riverside campus, this is a modern
development with 105 study bedrooms, consisting of 21 flats with
five study bedrooms, kitchen, lounge and shower room. All Saints
is a short walk away from the Metro Station(Stadium of Light),
see details about the University Metro Pass below and is
conveniently situated near to a supermarket, video hire store
and fast food outlet. Facilities on site include electronic
access gates, CCTV, free car parking, pay telephones,
launderette and intercom door entry systems. From September 2005
All Saints will have wireless internet access to all rooms,
charges for this are included in the rent. Enhanced security is
provided by a university Mobile Security Patrol, six times every
24 hours and Resident Tutors are also available to help with
welfare and disciplinary matters and to ensure that Health and
Safety regulations are observed.
POST
GRADUATE ACCOMMODATION 40/50 WEEK CONTRACTS
The Precinct
Available for 50 Week Contracts Only - Located on

Scotia Quay (Allan House)
Available for 50 Week Contracts Only - Mainly
consisting of 5 study bedrooms (with en-suite facilities,
fridge, phone and access to the internet) each flat also has
access to a fully equipped kitchen/diner, The flats offer
spacious accommodation and are located near to the river
overlooking the Sir Tom Cowie Campus. The Student Union Bar and
shop are nearby. £200 Booking Fee required to secure booking,
this is deducted from the final rent payment.
The Forge
Available for 40 and 50 Week Contracts. The Forge
offers flats for five to seven people. Rooms are spacious and
well designed and are similar in size. access to the
